Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had led some to question if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

He defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
